Oregon City, OR – With Clarks' victory over Clackamas on Friday afternoon, the Penguins won the outright South Region Championship and clinched the top seed in next week's NWAACC Championship Tournament. Today's game was the finishing touch on a fantastic season that saw the Penguins reach the 30 win mark for the first time in program history and first title of any kind in baseball since 1968.Â
Game One: The Penguins scored 11 runs on 14 hits, capitalizing on three Clackamas errors in the 11-3 victory. Clark posted a three-run second inning and a five-run eighth inning to distance itself from the Cougars.
Travis Eckert went four innings allowing one run and had five strikeouts.
Game Two: Sam Kosbab had two RBI and
Kevin Hamann pitched four scoreless innings allowing only one hit with four strikeouts to lead the way. Clark scored two in the third inning and added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.Â
The Penguins open NWAACC Tournament play on Thursday, May 22 taking on the No. 2 seed from the North Region at 9:35 a.m. The 2014 NWAACC Baseball Tournament will be held May 22-26 at Lower Columbia's Baseball Field.Â
