2016 Athletes of the Year

Berg and Breen Earn Athlete of the Year Honors

James Breen – Men's Cross Country
After winning the 2015 NWAC Cross Country Championship, honors keep coming in for sophomore James Breen. James received the NWAC Baden Athlete of the Year for his impressive time of 25:12 in the 8K, as well as his consistent and impressive performances all season.
After finishing in 5th in last year's championship event, Breen, a sophomore from Clark College, took second in the Southern Region Championship, a second behind Clackamas' Jackson Baker. Breen then soundly defeated Baker by 8 seconds with a time of 25:12 to take the 2015 NWAC title.

Bryan Berg – Men's Basketball
Leading his team to a NWAC Championship in 2015, the 2016 campaign would come up just short. Bryan Berg had an exceptional season averaging just under 18 points per game.

Clark College sophomore guard, Bryan Berg (Tigard, OR), has been named the NWAC Baden Men's Basketball Player of the Year for 2016.  Berg, a two-year performer, led the Penguins to their second regional title in a row and to a 5th place finish at the 2016 NWAC Championship Tournament.
He was also a member of the 2015 Clark College NWAC championship team.  This year Berg led the Penguins in scoring with 17.6 ppg, while shooting an impressive 56% from the floor and 45% from the three point line. He also led the team from the free throw line (85%) and averaged 2.63 assists per game.   Bryan's cumulative record at Clark was 48-15.
Both Breen and Berg will receive their awards at the NWAC Hall of Fame Banquet on June 2nd at the Bellevue Red Lion.
