Track and Field Gear Up for NWAC Championship

After a successful outcome at the South Region Championships last weekend, the Clark Penguins track & field teams are feeling good heading into the NWAC Championships.  Both men and women finished 3rd overall in the South.  However, there were a number of personal bests recorded, two 1st place finishes, and the head Coach Bob Williams was honored with the Women's South Coach of the Year award.

Top Performers for the Penguins were:
Sadie Dalgleish – 1st in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase
Isaac Stinchfield – 1st in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase
Alanni Wingert – 2nd in the 800 Meter Run
Dan Nehnevaj – 2nd in the 5000 Meter Run
Guadalupe Mendoza – 2nd in the Discus
Jazzmine Rowland – 2nd in the 400 Meter Dash
Tayler Troupe – 2nd in the Long Jump
Thomas Normandeau – 2nd in the 1500 Meter Run
Sam Garvin – 3rd in the 1500 Meter Run and 3rd in the 5000 Meter Run
Tresa Marsh – 3rd in the 5000 Meter Run
Olivia Rose – 3rd in the Triple Jump
Breanna Munson – 3rd in the High Jump
Te'kwon Wallace – 3rd in the 400 Meter Hurdles
Tupre Wickliff – 3rd in the High Jump
Quentin Sills – 3rd in the Javelin Throw

The Penguins look to end their 2016 campaign in Gresham, OR at the 2016 NWAC Track & Field Championships, hosted by Mt. Hood Community College. The championships will begin Monday May 23 and will conclude on Tuesday the 24th. For a full list of events and times you can visit the NWAC championship site at TRACK.
