VANCOUVER, Wash. – With four of their runners finishing in the top ten, the Clark Women's Cross-Country team claimed the second place finish at the Southern Region Chapmionship meet, with a score of 45. Finishing first for the Penguins was Freshman runner
Lizzye Rybalka, with a time of 21.37. She was followed in by Freshman
Natalia Urtiaga (22.00), Sophomore
Aislynn Hansen (23.04), Freshman runner
Lulu Meksheneva (23.15), and Freshman
Sofia Reyes (27.00).Â
The men's team finished third overall, behind Lane CC and Treasure Valley CC. Sophomore
Sam Andersen crossed the finish line with a time of 27.43 just in front of teammate
Jarod Hulsizer (27.47). They finished 5
th and 6
th out of the 41 racers. Sophomore
Brandon Reyes (29.48), Freshman
Javier Tavera (30.13), and Freshman
Jose Cruz-Solis (33.293) each finished the race and lifted the penguins to the third-place finish.
This year's meet was hosted by Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon.Â
